Good News… Bad News
[Joke] A friend of mine went to the doctor for an exam and at the follow-up meeting the doctor told him “I have some good news but some bad news.” My friend, now appropriately anxious, said “Give me the GOOD news first.”
“The GOOD news is you have 24 hours to live.”
My friend shrieked: “That’s the good news? What’s the bad news?”
The doctor said: “I forgot to call you yesterday.”
There is good news and bad news for some of my readers today.
The bad news… if you’re behind with your Internet marketing now, if you don’t have an effective overall Internet marketing strategy in place now, if you’re not getting very good results from your website now – by the end of 2010 it will be five times worse (5x).
You won’t catch up after that point.
In other words, make 2010 the year you take your business to the next level – and start with your Internet marketing strategy (because that is the most cost-effective way to reach new brides/grooms).
The days of a casual, do-it-yourself, “shoe-string-budget” approach to using the Internet to promote your business and get new sales are over, gone, dead, KA-put!
If this has been your approach and you think your website will generate new business for you in 2010/2011 – you’re wrong.
I’m saying this not to scare or threaten you. I’m saying it because I see it over and over and over again.
In 2010 it’s going to take more than “just a new website.”
Download this Internet Marketing checklist (pdf).
It will take a well-managed “alive” website, testing, keeping your website fresh, high-performance website hosting (Google will start penalizing slow loading websites in 2010), optimizing the website and each individual page for conversion – and then for search, pay-per-click advertising, traffic building strategies, link building strategies, conversion measurement and analysis, more testing, email marketing, blogging, social media marketing, and offline marketing that is integrated into your online marketing.
Wow!
That’s a lot to do.
The good news… those who “get it” and choose to actively work on their Internet marketing strategy NOW, like David Rothstein (http://www.drsmusic.com), a member of my ADVANTAGE program, will continue to see great results and a great ROI.
Claire Goodman at Sacred Ground Ceremonies is also someone to watch (http://www.sacredgroundceremonies.com).
George Banfalvi’s Fifth Avenue Music in Los Angeles is well on it’s way too (http://www.fifthavenuemusic.com)
Those stuck doing what worked 12 months ago… need to rework their plan FAST.
Next Week… more predictions for 2010, including the future of search engine optimization (there are big changes ahead – actually, taking place right now!) and more wedding vendors, same number of weddings means doing what you used to do isn’t going to work.
Subscribe to my weekly newsletter and I’ll tell you how to book more weddings and
make fewer mistakes with your Internet marketing.
