Q: Chris, we’re thinking of adding one of these interactive webpage spokespeople to our website. We think it will help to get the attention of the brides who visit our website. What do you think?

A: Please don’t. You are wrong.

I see this live fake guy (or live fake girl) on the home pages of websites and it makes my stomach turn. This, along with automatically loaded music is the kiss-of-death when it comes to conversion (i.e. turning the brides and grooms who visit your website into inquiries and sales).

I know the companies that offer this say it INCREASES conversion, but you have a WEDDING website not a website that sells gaming software to teenagers!

A bride/groom is planning the most important day of their life – and you have a cartoon on your home page introducing your business. Sorry, I’m not buying it.

Automatically loaded music and live-fake-people violate my “it must add value to the user experience or it can’t be on the home page” rule. If you’re serious about marketing to brides online… this has no place in your overall Internet marketing strategy.

If you’re not happy with the results you’re getting from your current website, or the results you’re getting from your Internet marketing, I can help. My clients read like a Who’s Who list of top ranked sites at Google and their websites turn the brides who visit into inquiries, phone calls, and sales. If you want to use the Internet more effectively and BOOK MORE WEDDINGS, drop me a line using the inquiry form below or call me at (866) 652-7791 x701.

I’ll follow-up promptly and look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.
