Make 2010 Your Best Year Ever

Like most things, you get better results when you plan in advance and then manage your plan well.

The same is true with Internet Marketing.

I find that most of the people struggling with their Internet marketing and NOT getting the results they expected really don’t have a plan.

Either that or they are getting bad advice.

So over the next few weeks I’m going to discuss your Internet Marketing Plan and what you should be thinking about for 2010.

Does this planning work?

It sure does.

But 98% of the people reading this newsletter don’t have a plan.

As a result, they bump along the bottom with limited success.

Claire Goodman who owns Sacred Ground Ceremonies in Charlottesville, Virginia tells me business is great. So much for a “recession.” She has a plan and has spent three years working it, refining it, and increasing her overall exposure both online and offline.

JoAnn Woodward at Schwartz & Woodward, a Houston based wedding planning and consulting firm, is reaching the “high-end” bride she is looking for, and also getting some incredible exposure in the media, thanks in part to a top ranked website and well-executed search engine optimization strategy.

A good plan works!

Start by printing my Internet Marketing Strategy diagram at this link.

Now, let’s take a look at each item…

Planning and Execution

Put in place a well thought out plan that covers everything you’ll need to do. Start “big picture” and then move down into details.

Everything on the Internet Marketing Strategy diagram has to be addressed.

Yes, everything.

Then, define a detailed plan to get it all done, or at least the pieces of it you decide to tackle first.

This by itself is almost a full day exercise. Don’t think you can get this done in an hour - no way!

The effort you put into this piece of your overall planning will largely determine your ultimate success, limited success, or failure.

Management

Next you have to put together a management team to get everything done and get it done in a timely manner. Managing your Internet marketing strategy is almost a full time job these days. If you don’t have the time and expertise to do it all, and most don’t, outsource what you can’t do. When done correctly and done well you’ll get a great return-on-investment that more than pays for the expense required.

Website Design

Your website needs to do a lot of things, but generally speaking it has to be (a) user-friendly and create the “oh yes” moment (Bride says: “Oh yes, I’m finally at the right website, I like this…”), (b) search engine crawler friendly so that search engines can index and rank your pages, (c) conversion friendly so that the brides and grooms who visit your website actually do what you want them to (make inquiries and phone calls for appointments).

Next Week…

Search Engine Optimization, and Search Engine Marketing, and Traffic Building.
