Facebook is a social networking website. You can join for free and create a Facebook profile at http://www.facebook.com.
Once you join Facebook you can add friends and send them messages. One way is to invite them to become your “friend” or a “fan.”
You can update your personal profile to notify friends about what you are doing, what you are doing right now, and other information.
Additionally, Facebook users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and even by region. The website’s name came from the name of books given at the start of the academic year by university administrations with idea of helping students get to know each other better.

Facebook changed up their settings and effectively modified the “rules” a bit.
