Creating and Submitting Google Sitemaps

You’ve probably played pin-the-tail on the Donkey.

With a blindfold on it can be hard to find what you’re looking for, right?

Sure, you MIGHT find the target and you MIGHT even hit it dead on center.

But chances are you will not.

When it comes to search engine optimization one of your goals needs to be having Google see and then index all of your website’s pages.

Google needs to see your target!

You will never rank well or get top positions for pages Google has trouble finding. If Google’s “crawlers” have trouble finding what you want them to see at your website - your pages, your images, even your links - you have a BIG problem.

That is if you want brides and grooms to find your website at Google, Yahoo!, or Bing.

To address this issue, and make it easier for Google to find all of the pages at your website, all you need to do is create, configure, and install a “Google Sitemap” on your hosting server.

Here is a Google Sitemap I just created for a client that manufactures water irrigation systems for golf courses, Bisco Irrigation.

From Google: “Sitemaps are a way to tell Google about pages on your site we might not otherwise discover. In its simplest terms, a XML Sitemap—usually called Sitemap, with a capital S—is a list of the pages on your website. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google’s normal crawling process.”
